The Running of the Club
The Club is run by a team of elected Officers and up to twelve Committee Members, who represent the membership and ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the Club. We rely on volunteers to keep things going and we need your help.
Officers
-
The Officers are made up of the President, Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, and Treasurer.
-
These Officers are elected each year at the Annual General Meeting (AGM).
-
The Secretary is appointed separately by the General Committee and remains in office until replaced.
Committee Members
-
The Club’s management is vested in a General Committee of between 6 and 12 elected members, plus the Officers.
-
Committee members are elected by ballot at the AGM.
-
Each year, half of the elected Committee retire by seniority but may stand again for re-election.
Election Process
-
At least three weeks before the AGM, the Secretary will post a notice inviting nominations. This stays up for ten days.
-
Candidate names, with proposers and seconders, are then posted on the noticeboard at least seven clear days before the ballot.
-
Each member attending the AGM (all fully paid up members welcome and encouraged to attend) has one vote per vacancy.
-
The candidates with the most votes are declared elected.
-
In the event of a tie, names are drawn by the Chairperson to decide who is elected.
-
If a member is elected to two offices, they must choose one. The other vacancy is filled by the next highest candidate or by ballot at the meeting.
